about

This song is originally by Centerpiece, the incredible project of Will (from No Tide). Being in No Tide with Will was a great experience for me, he is so good at what he does and he makes sure that everyone around him is just as good. We would sit in the van and practice harmonies every day, something I was not very good at (still not the greatest). The Centerpiece EP that this song is from was all me and Joel (inasmuch bassist at one point, and my roommate for a while) listened to for a whole summer, it was just awesome.
Because Will makes perfect things, I decided to record this imperfectly, just one take that sounds like its through a crappy speaker because it's pretty far the opposite direction from the original.

lyrics

Let it sink in that your feelings don't even matter
Does it make it taste better when you serve my heart on a platter?
The clouds I'm looking at, have had the silver lining stolen
And forged into a token we spent on fixing what wasn't broken

it's okay if you don't feel the same
we're supposed to change
if we just read at different speeds
let me know when to turn the page

we could spend six bucks, ya know, if you're bored enough
to waste an afternoon at the old museum just trying to find a place to park
you said "take me home, I don't wanna be here anymore"
of course the planetarium is always closed, I didn't even check the door

I feel the years in my face some days like a concrete floor
you don't carry the weight for those you hate so I guess I'm yours
a shady man with a sleight of hand enters a crowded bar
I explained to him my tales of woe, as he pushed through the double doors
the over zealous bloke he said to place my bet on the whole things broken
so I smashed a glass on his head and said "its where you've been not the words you've spoken"
